OUR ORIGIN STORY
SCIENCE+ was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic to bridge the gap between media, science, and the public in Central and Eastern Europe, where medical disinformation was rampant. Originating from Free Press for Eastern Europe, a Prague-based branch of Free Press Unlimited (Amsterdam), SCIENCE+ collaborates with media and scientific communities to counter misinformation.
The SCIENCE+ model has since expanded to address other vulnerabilities targeted by disinformation in the region, including:
Public health
Food insecurity
Climate change
War-related fears
Skepticism of democracy
Anti-migrant, anti-minority sentiments
